''Crowded Beach" symbolizes the reaction of the ocean to its relentless destruction and to the destruction of its creatures, by humanity. The driftwood, with flinging limbs, shows the faces of complacency and horror, and also the face of hope, that the ocean will one day recover.

The horse is an optical illusion, looking out to the sea, and at the same time looking at the tree, which has shed its leaves while waiting.

“Cayo Costa, Fl.” represent the oneness of two. There are two trees, creating one image. The lifeless trees also represent the dignity of life and the struggle for it.

Anelia Elaine Crawford was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. As a youngster, she became an enthusiastic fan of the great outdoors, where all of nature and its creatures hold significant beauty. Nature is life’s cathedral. As a young girl, she loved the attention her work brought to her. She has been drawing since eleven, and painting since seventeen.
Anelia studied at the Ringling School of Art, the University of Florida, and the Southern College of Technology in Marietta, Ga.
While a student, she participated in a study to identify challenges to freshwater resources in Florida. As a junior engineer, she saw the damage done to hundreds of acres due to development. She decided to focus her career on environmental issues. In her professional career, she has coauthored reports on the groundwater flow under landfills in Georgia and designed groundwater and methane monitoring systems to determine if hazardous wastes are contaminating the environment. Anelia has conducted numerous site investigations to determine if hazardous waste is present or produced at a site. She was the field engineer for the construction of a recycling facility in Georgia. Anelia has over thirty years experience in civil and environmental engineering disciplines.
Anelia has lived and worked in the Atlanta, Georgia area for forty- two years. Anelia retired as a co-owner of a land surveying and civil engineering business, In the Field, Inc. in 2013.
Anelia is a past member of the Oil Painters of America, The Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, Inc., St. Augustine Art Association, and the Hudgens Center for the Arts, Atlanta, Ga.

"Recovery" represents her own recovery from the loss of her career as an engineer, and the loss of her business, due to the economy crash of 2008.
Her work "Recovery" has been included on the website addictionandart.org (2014) as a free download to encourage and support those struggling with this condition. The editor of "Addiction and Art", Dr. Margaret Dowell reports that a professor at the University of Massachusetts uses the gallery of "Addition and Art" along with books to teach in his classes. Addiction and Art is a publication of the John Hopkins Press.
Since 2013 she is the owner of 'Blue Lotus Expressions', offering nature photography, fine art, and garden features. Her other lifelong passions include science, history, reading, writing, kayaking, hiking and gardening.
